Margery Lawrence

8 August 1889 – 13 November 1969

**Margery Harriet Lawrence**, a prolific writer of Gothic and romantic fiction (chiefly remembered today for *The Madonna of Seven Moons*), was also a believer in the occult: several of her fifty-odd supernatural tales were based on personal experiences. Among her stories are 'The Haunted Saucepan' (from *Nights of the Round Table*, 1926) and 'The Death Strap' (from *The Terraces of Night*, 1932).
