Dorothea Zack Hanle

Dorothea Zack Hanle was born in Philadelphia, the daughter of a real estate agent. She was raised in Ship Bottom, Pennsylvania. She was called "Zack" from her childhood. She attended Wilson College in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, and Barnard College. After university, she became a writer for Mademoiselle Magazine. She was also hired by Dell Publishing, for whom she wrote and edited more than 65 pocket-size how-to books.
