For over 4 years on active service in Middle East Command, Italy, Persia, Iraq and other Commands. He was the first Indian ever to join the Commandos and was an instructor in the Middle East Commando school. In India he served in various capacities as unit commander and staff officer and has varied experience of troop and staff duties
