Erken Osmanli Yapilarinda Çini Süsleme

In this study, tile ornaments of architectural works constructed from the foundation of the Ottoman Principality until the conquest of Istanbul are discussed in detail with their material, technique, motif and composition features and their place in Turkish tile art is revealed. Although the works that we have included in the catalog of our research topic are limited to 1453 date, some of the works in the second half of the 15th century and the 16th century which are understood to continue the Early Ottoman style in tile art have been examined in detail in the comparison and evaluation section. The structures of our study are located in Bursa, Iznik, Edirne, Ankara, Tire and Skopje within the borders of today's Macedonia. Tile, which was used in architectural works in the 14th century in a limited way, its main development during this period, 15. century has realized an important place in ornamentation with different techniques and compositions. Today, neglect has caused severe damages to all kinds of tiles performed by human hand, but this period has had a distinguished place in Turkish tile art by combining the effects of Timurid art and traditions that were established before in Anatolia.
