Kabaal ! Feest en strijd in de Nederlandse literatuur

Dutch literature more than once echoes with celebratory turbulences or martial bluster. Although the texts are often wrapped in a 'festive cloak', the stories they tell or their place in literature are often situated in the thick of the fight. These literary texts not only serve as a projection screen to stage the confrontation, but also act as a means to it, as the enemy to battle, and even as the ultimate goal of the fight. In this collection, six researchers report on the noise they hear coming from Dutch novels, poems, pamphlets and songs from the Middle Ages until now. They tell how quarrel and strife, clamor and laughter, protest and jubilance could find a perpetual place in this collection.
