Have that friend who gets pregnant accidentally, without even trying, or seemingly the second she stops taking birth control? Has she told you 'you'll get pregnant when you're meant to,' or 'your baby will come when it's time.' Honestly, comfort like this feels like a knife in the wound because why do you have to wait for it to be your 'time' to get pregnant? When women were giving me this kind of senseless comfort, I always wanted to scream, 'just because you CAN get pregnant, doesn't mean you know HOW to get pregnant!'

Let me give you a bit of back story. My husband and I have been trying to conceive since May of 2014. I stopped drinking immediately, cut my caffeine, started taking prenatal vitamins, started drinking tons of water, and began our more healthy diet regimen.
I also stopped taking birth control, which for me, was quite the blessing. You see, I had laparoscopic surgery for stage five endometriosis in August of 2013. Prior to that, I had excessive bleeding with my periods, tremendous pain from cramping, and doctors that had no idea what to do with me. Their answer? To have me take six (yes six!) birth control pills per day to ‘try’ to stop the symptoms. And I dutifully did so.

The pills, of course, made me super emotional, made me gain about 30 pounds (probably due to the progesterone and the fact that progesterone causes crazy constipation), and made me really confused about my future fertility.

This is my personal journey through the ups and downs of trying to conceive; filled with all the things you're not supposed to say out loud when dealing with the dark emotions of negative pregnancy tests. It's my way of expelling the negative so I can move forward with the positive, while sharing my journey - a journey I know a lot of you can relate to.
