At the end of Pride and Prejudice, Elizabeth Bennet declared herself "the happiest creature in the world," which would indicate that our beloved couple lived happily after ever as in a fairy tale. But Jane Austen never answered many lingering questions the reader might have had even after the story was told, such as how was Elizabeth received by Mr. Darcy's noble relations barely mentioned in the original novel? Did the Darcys' wedding vows resolve any and all conflicts between them, or did they continue to have passionate disagreements? What of the London Season and Society's reaction to Fitzwilliam Darcy's marriage to a country nobody? How did our couple manage their inevitable scorn?

How did the shy Miss Darcy progress? How did she grow and change through her friendship with Elizabeth? Was her coming out especially trying given her past with the treacherous Mr. Wickham?

What of Colonel Fitzwilliam as the war with Napoleon rages on? Might he have need to prove himself as more than an earl's second son?

How did Mrs. Collins endure her marriage to the insipid Mr. Collins? What became of the bitter Lady Catherine and her sickly daughter, Anne de Bourgh, whose sheltered existence now must also progress?

Caroline Bingley was said to have dropped all her resentment after Mr. Darcy's marriage for her own good, but had she really? And might she find a suitor of her own to rival him and to satisfy her ambitions?

Progression is a continuation of Jane Austen's classic story that covers the first year of Mr. and Mrs. Darcy's marriage, where much more happens than one might think. Other characters return, such as Mr. Wickham, and new characters are introduced, including a mischievous nobleman who manages to influence everyone's behavior in one way or another.

Though this story is 239,000 words, there is very little in terms of "filler" as I try to keep things interesting and move it along at a fast pace. The story is mostly clean with only a couple of scenes more explicit, which you are welcome to skip without missing anything. This book has also been further proofread and further edited with minor corrections made to the original volumes self-published in May of 2016.
