It is said the fluttering of a butterfly's wings in the Amazon forest will have an adverse effect, and cause a typhoon to form on the other side of the globe. The Iron Butterfly expounds this theory in the theatre of the Second World War... Lorient, France, 1944 - Captains Franz Bauer and Kurt Oblitz are on a secret mission to sail their U-boats to the Far East with a highly dangerous cargo. Germany would share their latest technology with Japan to create a unique weapon - the Uranium Bomb. Bauer faces emotional challenges, desperate for information on the whereabouts and well-being of his wife Anna and his young son in Germany. As the U-boats sail to their fate, Anna's bravery is tested to the limit. On the run from the atrocities of the war she eventually falls prey to the clutches of a Russian commander.
