The Coben Omnibus

It is in the second half of the Myron Bolitar series of books that we begin to see the novels turning darker and more sophisticated. Coben puts his lead character through the mill, as he has to deal not only with the bad guys, but demons from his own past. He also has to handle the consequences of his own all-too-human mistakes. The comedy is still there but so is the tragedy.This culminates in the masterpiece that is ONE FALSE MOVE. This is the book that really showed Harlan's potential, and, not uncoincidentally, showed the depth of pain that Myron could feel. A vicious twist at the end marked out the author as a ruthless master-manipulator of his readers and a talent to watch...
