An Atheist In A Foxhole: A Soldier’s Journey From Belief To Non-Belief

My life has not been the greatest. I had a step father who is a difficult person to get along with, but my mother is a very understanding and sweet person. We were so poor that we would dig through trashcans for recyclables. When I was an adult I would do anything to find a job so that I could take care of myself. I eventually joined the army as part of this search. During my time in the army we deployed to Iraq. While I was in Iraq I found out something that I would never expect. I discovered how to question my beliefs that I had about the god that I believed in.
