“I began to realize that I would be spending many years growing up with a dual life. One with the Christians and one with the Jews.” So says Leonard Boulette, a Jewish lad who moved into a predominantly Christian community with his mother, father, and sister when he was four years old. Welcome to Bridgeview is his memoir. Now in his senior years, Boulette reflects on the great moments and the trials of his Jewish life. From his school days, to his years as a young adult in the military under threat of being shipped to Vietnam, to his eventual employment and marriage, throughout the book he asks the question: “Does everyone in the world need to have someone to be prejudice against in order to secure their own identity?”
