Geschichte der Kirchgemeinde Stammheim und Umgebung

First published in 1911, this is a history of the church parish of Stammheim in the canton of Zürich, Switzerland written by a Stammheim pastor and native with a driving interest in the history of his community. It begins with the first inhabitants of the area, followed by the Romans, and then detailed attention is given to the Middle Ages: the Alamanni, Franks, knights and their castles, the various jurisdictions and landowners and the pre-reformation church. Modern Times take up the remaining, largest part of the book: the Swiss Confederacy, the Reformation (Zwingli) and Counter-reformation, but also every aspect of daily life such as agriculture, communal life, schools and the poor.
