About
This catalogue brings together more than one hundred works (paintings, collages, sculptures, installations) in which Herbert Rodríguez (Lima 1959) develops an art-language using images and headlines in the media and advertising of the era, as well as materials that contain object-based and notably pictorial weight. The publication is divided into seven thematic areas: experimentalism, human rights, viva la Revolution, fair of prestige, media domination, sex, "tell the truth is a performance". The corpus of each section includes first-hand documents, photographs, newspaper articles of the time, fanzines, manifestos, video and recent books on memory and contemporary artistic practices in Latin America, all from the personal archives of the artist.
