The Crimes of Luigi C Gambetti

The Crimes of Luigi C Gambetti comprises a series of detective stories from the casebook of the eponymous Luigi C Gambetti. He is a seeker of justice who acts, at times, despite the constraints of the law, to serve its cause; thus the ambiguousness of the title. The main character and those of his associates are developed over the telling of the six separate and individual crime stories. They span the period of his life as a young man. From all the evidence that can be generated from an individual case, the mystery of who, how and why will always involve a psychological and moral dimension. Gambetti studies the behaviour of players and is particularly keen to identify inconsistencies; motive, ambition, desire and opportunity are examples of the threads that weave facts together into a pattern, a scenario, the story of a crime.
