천령天嶺은 함양의 옛 이름으로 1657년(효종 8)의 구지舊誌를 바탕으로 1888년(고종 25) 증보ㆍ편찬한 것이다. 권두에 지도가 있고 이어 건치연혁ㆍ역원ㆍ읍호ㆍ교량ㆍ성씨 등을 소개하고 있다. 1657년 정광연鄭光淵의 서문과 1656년 정수민鄭秀民ㆍ1888년 정환주鄭煥周의 발문이 있다.
