Three New Plays

Published in 1907, and reviewed favourably by Virginia Woolf in *Guardian*, a periodical published from 1846 to 1951 (not the same as *The Guardian* newspaper still in publication). The three plays are: **Fame and the Artist**: a male artist goes to visit a woman in a hospital for consumptives in London **The Street**: a bank clerk's widow lodges in the Strand, London, with two daughters--a clash of generations **Jack Hamlin, Gambler**: this play may be influenced by the books of Francis Bret Harte (1837-1902), featuring a character named Jack Hamlin, an habitual gambler. Antonia R. Williams may even have simply written a play using the same character. (This needs confirmation.)
