Norges politiske system etter 1814

Norway's political system after 1814 is about the central political institutions and norms that have characterized the political system from 1814 until today. The main emphasis is on the relationship between the Storting and the executive. Trond Nordby writes in detail about the Constitution, the Storting's internal organization, the Storting's control and the central administration. Institutional change is analyzed mainly in the light of an economic-social context. Among other things, Nordby rejects old teachings about when parliamentarism won out, what it meant for the relationship between the Storting and the executive. Under parliamentarism, the ongoing power struggle between the political states is decided by the balance of power between the opposition and the government as well as its basis in the Storting. In addition to this, the Storting has in recent times both lost power and become far more powerful. Among other things, the elected representatives have withdrawn as legislators, thanks to voluntary liberalization and as a result of their connection to the EU system through the EEA agreement. On the other hand, since the 1990s, the Storting has stepped up control and taken over larger parts of what was traditionally under the domain of the executive.
