Eternal Security

Once a person comes to faith in Jesus Christ, is it possible for that person to abandon the faith and thus forfeit the gift of salvation? Is eternal security an unconditional offer that will never be revoked by God even if the believer begins living in gross and unrepentant sin and/or begins to follow apostate teachings? These are sensitive questions to be sure and ones that have many in the Christian faith sharply divided. But the scriptures are not ambiguous or confusing regarding this hotly debated topic for those who are willing to thoroughly investigate the scriptures without bias and be trained by them. The nature of our salvation is obviously central to the Christian experience, and believers should be well informed and have a conviction regarding the subject of eternal security so that we may conduct our lives as pilgrims here on earth in a way that befits this great and wonderful gift and our responsibility to it.
