When Emma woke up that beautiful sunny summer morning to go jogging, she didn’t know she would never come back home. The Ross family is the wealthiest in a small village in the Lake District, and seem to be a united, happy family, but nobody can imagine what goes on behind closed doors. Their elder daughter, twenty-five year old Emma, is hiding the fact that her boyfriend, Adam, is abusing her. Her only confidant is her overweight brother who is binge eating in order to forget he’s been bullied all his life. Her mother is having affairs with younger men, in a desperate attempt to recapture her youth, while her father buries himself in work and doesn’t see anything that goes on. He is stuck in the past. All that changes when young, mysterious Clare, their new maid, comes to work for them. That’s when things take a tragic turn. Exorcising your inner demons might even mean losing your life. Will they be able to get past the tragedy and reunite, as a family? Can they forgive each other? Can one forgive himself if they’ve caused somebody else’s death?
