His career began in 1950 and he won in 1954 the 1st Place Award International Competition of Photographic Art, Sao Paulo Brazil. began what would be a sustained research in order to abstract studies of photography, becoming an active part of intense creative movement of the sixties. Rómulo Aguerre was born in Montevideo on May 30, 1919 2 and lived the early years of is life in the mythical "Barrio Sur". Aguerre is a singular artist within the landscape of Uruguayan plastic arts, a pioneer of geometric abstract photography both in Uruguay and all over Latin America.
