Den of Thieves

Just as hypocritical religious leaders angered Jesus when He walked on the Earth over a thousand years ago, church leaders today are hurting the heart of God when they betray those who come to worship, who count on the church to care about them and heal their woes. Jesus shows us that we must challenge the leadership, both laypersons and clergy, when they steal from the mouths of the poor and exploit relationships. We must call our faith leaders to accountability. Rev. William L. Neill speaks with the same anger and concern in "Den of Thieves" that Jesus had, anger and concern that has generated over his past twenty-two years of pastoral experience. It is an anger rooted in frustration and intimidation, burning with hurt and disappointment about the misapplication of Jesus's model of church and Christian stewardship. Through this work, Neill hopes to provoke church leadership to move with integrity toward biblical principles of proper fiscal and relational stewardship as organisms and organizations are built to advance the kingdom of God. Only then will the kingdom be realized as Christ has mandated. About the Author Reverend William L. Neill is a twenty-two-year veteran pastor of the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church. He has served in a number of leadership positions within the connectional, Episcopal, conference, and district church and the community.
