This book is a true life story of the author Leonard. Who was born between two world wars. he came from a poor family. His mother who was widowed in 1935 was in poor health, they became inseparable and in 1940 faced the blitz on London together when any minute cold have been their last. Leonard’s mother died in 1943 when he was fifteen leaving him completely on his own. He joined the British merchant navy and served for the last two years of the war in a deep sea tug which took him to West Africa and the middle East and he spent time in the North Atlantic. On his return to England and at the age of eighteen he was draughted into the army for national service. He has had two marriages the first one being a disaster. He spent twenty years in the London Ambulance Service as a parmedic When he had to fight off an armed gang single handed to save his patient’s lives. the book is good reading for all ages.
