My Life in Story: A One-man Play about Hans Christian Andersen

The Script: Act One. Andersen relates events in his life chronologically. An early scene begins with his birth in Odense, Denmark, and ends with his leaving Odense for Copenhagen when he was fourteen. A later scene begins with his arrival in Copenhagen and ends just before he leaves Copenhagen at age twenty-four on his first of thirty trips abroad. In Act One Andersen tells three of his stories: "It's Absolutely True!," "The Buckwheat," and "The Story of a Mother."
