"Volume contains nine papers presented at a conference held in May 1994. Topics include the precolumbian past, the search for identity, interpretations of the Andean world, Andean mysticism, geometry and mathematics, and Andean calendars. Individual papers focus on such varied themes as the archeology of Tiwanaku, precolumbian architecture, solar eclipses, and modern Bolivian identities.
