In a run-down house, amidst the bustling tourist streets of the Old Town of Stockholm, archivist Konstantin Edenhielm stumbles upon a family living in a parallel reality, free from the demands and rules of the present. They have their reasons for staying under the radar and hiding a little girl from the authorities, while making a living from supernatural services and antiques of dubious origin.
Konstantin is drawn deeper and deeper into their dark world and soon participates in attacks orchestrated by the secretive organization The Brotherhood of Orderlies. By day, he works to catalog a collection of politically sensitive documents and ends up deeply entangled among corrupt officials, while he is tempted by his seductive colleague Elwira.
