Goddess of the Market: Ayn Rand and the American Right, 1930--1980

Rand's atheism and her forthright advocacy of capitalism have made her controversial figure. This dissertation, based on newly available archival materials, is the first scholarly work to assess her impact. It restores Rand to the narrative of conservatism's rise, in the process illuminating multiple aspects of America in the twentieth century.
