The Eighth Day

He was born and raised in Texas and educated in Texas Public Schools. After graduating as Valedictorian of his High School class in 1945, he spent four years at The Rice University studying the hard sciences. He was introduced to Darwin and evolution when he studied Human Biology under the laboratory assistant of Thomas Huxley, Dr. W. D. Davies. He completed his education at Abilene Christian University and The Divinity School at Harvard University. He was licensed to be a Marriage and Family Therapist at Abilene Christian University.He has preached at various churches of Christ in four different states and lectured at a racially integrated South African preacher training institution.After preaching, teaching and counseling for fifty-seven years, he has 'semi-retired' and now serves the Oak Hills Church, San Antonio, Texas, as a consultant in Biblical Theology and teaches an advanced Bible class and a class in Koine Greek for lay members.The basic assumption of The 8th Day is that, since Modern Science and Evangelical Theology can trace their history back to a common origin in the thinking of theologians and philosophers in The Medieval Christian Universities, the destructive warfare is both unnatural and unnecessary. It is a conflict between some preachers and some scientists; not a war between science and the Bible. The author believes that only by means of dialog between a Biblical-Christian World view and the presently dominant Scientific-Materialist World View, can peace between to two come about and bring benefits to mankind and a holistic understanding of the whole Creation.The 8th Day develops a Biblical-Christian World View based on a new interpretation of the Creation Stories that is able to meet in equal dialog with the Scientific-Materialist World View. It also traces the developments in modern science that make such a dialog possible.
