Krishner in New York

A pop version of the Bhagavad Gita. Lord Krishna is Harry Krishner, a New York cabdriver, and Arjuna is Trudy Newman, a New York girl. Arjuna's questions to Lord Krishna concerning going into battle to kill his relatives becomes Trudy's questions to Harry Krishner about not wanting to live in the face of all the reasons modern life gives us to despair. As in the original, the dialogue persists and Krishner gives Trudy a vision of God. Kathy Braun is the author of "Kangaroo & Kangaroo (Doubleday) which was illustrated by Jim McMullan. The book was on the NY Times Best Children's Books. She now lives in Buckingham, Virginia. Lucy Knisley is a student at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her work has been widely exhibited.
