Insight and Psychosis

Recent advances in the cognitive and neurosciences have provided an ideal opportunity to synthesize the work from the varied disciplines studying self-awareness. By bringing together hitherto disparate approaches to the problem of insight in psychosis, this volume provides a deeper understanding of the phenomenology, origins, and clinical implications of insight. The chapters are written by an international panel of experts in their fields. The authors describe how their own orientations and work have contributed to illuminating the questions regarding the nature of insight in psychosis, while remaining mindful of the overarching goal of this book: to bring together in a single volume the most important and up-to-date exemplars of the diverse approaches to understanding insight and its role in the treatment of psychotic disorders.
