Return to Cross Island

On the northeast coast of the State of Maine lies Machias. Home to lobstermen and fishermen, the town--in the 1920's--is host to the summer tourists, two with an unusual quest. Bernie Jennings teaches in Augusta and is of Boston Brahmin wealth who finds herself in Machias, where she falls in love with an island. Vernon Townsley is a Kansas freestater who departs for Baltimore. He works on the waterfront and joins the Army during World War I. Wounded in France, he's returned to the Army hospital at Togus, Maine, near Augusta. Come with us as Vernon and Bernie meet, marry, have a family, and live happily. Until tragedy strikes.
