Hellboy: Darkness Calls is a comic book limited series created by Mike Mignola published by Dark Horse Comics starring Hellboy. Continuing from The Island it opens with Igor Bromhead performing a ritual in a underground temple, somewhere in Italy. He has somehow escaped from his prison (Boxful of Evil) but is still cursed with his lizard body. He writes runes in blood then summons Hecate and says he controls her. Hecate is angered by this and threatens to kill him. But he reveals that he knows that she inhabited Ilsa Haupstein's body (Hellboy: Wake the Devil) and that he was told by Vladmir Girusciu, whose body is in the room.
