Most of the icons published here date to the late fifteenth century and can be ascribed to the great icon-painter Dionysius and his pupils. Later icons of the early seventeenth century adhere to the original style. In a concise introduction, the author explains the iconography and adduces the latest research to clarify questions of dating and attribution.
