Alexander wanted to recreate the world in his own image. One he was striving to define even on the day of his death. Even at the end with all the uncertainty in his life, Alexander held fast to one thing and one thing only - his love for Hephaestion. It was this love and the strength of their bond, which ultimately led to his untimely death. When his beloved died, Alexander no longer saw the road ahead as clearly as he had before, nor did he have the heart for conquest any longer. Following the lead of his hero Achilles, Alexander too died shortly after the death of the one person who made everything worth living for.
