The night the stars fell

First in a series of four titles. Review by Harriet Klausner: Earl Chalfont "Bly" Blysdale travels to Cliffside seeking information about the disappearance of two of his few friends, Smythe and Mathers. However, a highwayman stops Bly's coach. The thief searches the coach, but leaves without taking anything. Bly is amused with the event. The next day, Bly arrives at the home of one of his former junior officers in the Peninsular War against Napoleon, Josh Clifton. There he meets and is attracted to Josh's competent sister Kate. As Bly seeks to find his lost comrades, Kate continues to hold up coaches in search of stolen jewels that will prove her sibling Hal is not a criminal. Kate and Bly soon fall in love, but both retain secrets that, if revealed, could easily destroy any relationship between them. THE NIGHT THE STARS FELL is an exciting Regency romance that stars two strong lead characters with personal agendas that interfere with their love for one another. The story line moves forward rather quickly due to the antics of Kate and Bly, protagonists that readers will like. Though Kate's hold-ups require a stretch (not because of her gender) due to the impossible logistics support system, Christina Kingston has written an enjoyable historical romance that will provide much gratification to sub-genre fans.
