Beth Lawrence leaves staid Boston seeking adventure out West. She finds it—and more—working for Stephen Breckland, a wealthy rancher. Stephen can be a tyrant, with his quicksilver moods and demanding ways. But though she never knows whether he'll growl or smile at her, Beth is attracted to her handsome boss. So are many other women, including Erika Andresen, a haughty, glamorous boutique owner who is determined to win the young rancher for herself. Refusing to be cowed by Erika, Beth gamely fights for Stephen's affection. And then, just when she thinks he returns her love, happiness is torn from her grasp by a vicious lie!
