The Dark Streets

The latest mystery in the critically acclaimed Los Angeles Times best-selling series takes private investigator Jack Liffey to LA's exotic Koreatown, where a young film student, Soon-Lin Kim, has apparently gone missing. Early in his search for her, Jack learns that Soon-Lin has been tangling with a giant Korean conglomerate intent upon evicting a handful of elderly women from their homes in downtown LA - women whom thet same conglomerate had forcibly recruited into prostitution during World War II. These "comfort women," as they were called, had been the subjects of the documentary Soon-Lin was filming when she disappeared. But Jack is not the only one looking for Soon-Lin. Her association with a sinister, militant group of radical Asians has also set Homeland Security in her pursuit. Jack ultimately finds himself under torturously intense interrogation at a secret compound in the California desert.
