About
I was inspired to write In The Mind Of A Poet, after becoming a member of the International Society Of Poets. In my book I wrote about my family. On page 17 my son Preston Nelson III, the death of my best friend, how my mother died when I was born, my divorce, getting my life back together with my new husband (Until Death Do Us Part), dealing with the stress of life. How to stay focused and believing in a Higher Power, I've had many book signings and not one reader was disappointed. I've received many letters from satisfied fans. One night while I was at Barnes & Noble promoting my book a lady was standing at the cash register buying my book with tears in her eyes. I walked by after reading from my book on the loud speaker. She told me how touched she was after she read the poem about my life story, she said she never gave up, and took care of her two children, just as I did. She said she would tell every one about my book. My book was recognized and signed by the former Governor of VA. The Hon. L Douglas Wilder and The Hon. Robert Scott of Congress and Martin Luther King III. My poems were acknowledged by The International Library Of Poetry by making a verbally recorded CD in my honor. I was also given four awards for outstanding achievements by the Editor's choice awards. The poem 911 told how my daughter now Major Tonya Nelson survived the attack at the Pentagon, which won me three trophies. The book has received national attention. President George Bush and the chairman and CEO Ken Lewis of Bank of America wrote me encouraging my writing. My book is in the Norfolk Public Library. I was on the front page of my local newspaper. The public support has been overwhelming and gratifying. One of my co-workers told me the other day her daughter's grades have improved since she read Satisfied By Just Getting By. My book has touched many lives it gives me great joy that I can make a difference in the lives of others. Please feel free to email me after reading my book at htpublications@aol.com.
