Information Age

The permanent gallery, Information Age at the Science Museum, looks at how information and communication technologies have transformed our lives over the last 200 years. This gallery invites visitors to reflect on the long history of information networks, telling 21 stories of people and events and showcasing many significant objects. It includes excerpts from unique interviews with the BBC team who created the world's first global satellite broadcast in 1967, soldiers who used GPS during the first Gulf war in 1991, and business people from Cameroon whose lives have been transformed by the economic possibilities of mobile telephony since 1997. The six networks: The Cable, The Broadcast, The Exchange, The Constellation, The Web, and The Cell.
