De Nederlandse Berber Ali Lahrouchi werd geboren in een doodarm dorp in het diepe zuidoosten van Marokko. Als kritisch journalist kwam hij in conflict met het Marokkaanse regime. Zes jaar leefde hij als illegaal in Nederland en leerde de hypocrisie van het zwartgeldcircuit van binnenuit kennen.
