Dave Farrell hired an outfit, gathered a herd of wild longhorns in Texas, and hit the trail into Colorado, selling the beeves fo almost fifty thousand dollars. But when he rode back towards Texas he found worse trouble awaiting him than he had faced on the outwards trip. It had been bad enough with the herd, fighting Comanches, battling against rustlers, but the he had known his enemies and could recognize them. Now they were of a different brand, stealthy, secretive, and ruthless. He needed more than determination and courage to win through, and was pushed to his limit.
