About
No More Excuses is the third book from Marvin O'Bryant. His first two books chronicled the challenges he faced in life, from early childhood all the way to and through adulthood. This book takes on a different tone in the sense that, according to him, after having served the community for twenty-eight years as a barber, his heart has been flooded with disappointment and his eyes have overflowed with tears of stress and distress; his thirst to help has been a burning sensation, because his childhood and parenting is totally different from the parenting and the children of today. Our youth is in a bad shape, and they don't even see it, and some of you as parents don't even see it. Marvin has asked himself this question: Where did we all go wrong? We must not point the finger at anyone because it has been said and proven that it takes a village to raise a child. Raising children does not merely mean that one must be able to pass down to their children morals, principles, and respect, but it also means one must know it for themselves. As old people would say, "How can the blind lead the blind?" Parents and caregivers must be examples and role models, whether we choose to or not. I thank God for my mother, grandparents, and great grandparents, the church, and the people in the neighborhood for being a part of my life because even when I would do wrong, I at least knew better. My writing this book demonstrates my concern for the children that do not have a clue or love or respect for themselves or one another. This book goes to the heart of the matter. So America, we have a job to do, and we must get on it now!
