John Joseph Esterly, aka Joe Easter, is a worn out ex-cop who works the security detail at an Atlantic City casino. There he encounters Myra Manning, aka Eunice Beautemps, an escaped fugitive from the law and a resourceful and violent thief who humiliates him in her efforts to remain at large.
