Adesuwa and Uyi are young and in love, but their relationship must remain in the dark as her parents may not approve of him as a worthy suitor. He’s a poor farmer. Uyi struggles to save up some money before summoning the courage to ask for Adesuwa's hand in marriage. He gives her a stipulated date to meet her parents. As she dreamily counts down the days Uyi finally claims her from her parents, the worst happens. The king of Benin kingdom has found Adesuwa worthy of bearing him a long overdue heir.
