When Prince Shadowynd awakens within the enchanted walls of Castle Evergreen, he has no recollection of who or where he is… Yet he is quickly embraced by Evergreen’s good natured king Aric “The Grey” and his mystical forest community, who seem to believe the prince is the “light bringer” foretold of in their sacred Book of Elders. However there is one among them who is not so easily impressed. The realm's seasoned warlord-turned general, Tedrick Barsillius, suspects the charming stranger might be hiding something, and will stop at nothing to uncover the truth about the prince's origins. While recovering from his unexplained battle wounds, the prince falls for his lovely caretaker, Talyana; a maiden who is as beautiful as she is passionate about protecting Evergreen from a growing threat in the westlands. Before long the infatuated stranger decides to take up Evergreen’s cause as his own, resulting in the formation of a fragile alliance between the grey king, the waning warlord, and the dark prince. That is, until the shattered fragments of the prince’s mysterious past begin returning to him through nightmarish visions, revealing that he is somehow connected with the dark force that threatens the very existence of the enchanted forest he has vowed to protect.
