Secrets in the Attic

In quiet upstate New York, in a room reminiscent of Flowers in the Attic, two young girls create their own fantasy world in order to escape boredom. Zipporah Stein convinces Karen Stoker that her stepfather is a Norman Bates-like character who visits his dead mother in an apartment attached to the house. But Karen's fantasies take a dark turn when she begins to reveal that her stepfather is sexually abusing her - and that her own mother knows about it but ignores it.
