About
The compendium is an alphabetical listing of terms used in chemistry, with the definitions recommended by various IUPAC commissions dealing with nomenclature and terminology. Terms from physical, inorganic, organic, macromolecular and analytical chemistry published up to the end of 1985 are included. The definitions are authoritative, being recommendations agreed by committees of experts after consultation with the chemical community. The reference is intended to be ongoing as some important areas of chemistry have not yet been the subject of IUPAC recommendations.
