Although adult autopsies have declined in recent years, the importance and demand for pediatric autopsies has accelerated. There is a great need for the pediatric autopsy to be approached with great care in technique and dissection and to recognize malformations that may be easily overlooked by the uninitiated. Handbook of Pediatric Autopsy includes a general description of the techniques in the pediatric autopsy including the death certificate, cause and manner of death, and obtaining permission from the family, and also discusses major malformations and disorders in each organ system.
