Developing a Shared Vision with the Societe Du Parc Dufresne

This action research project studied the attempt of a non profit organization to reassess its vision, mission and objectives. It was intended to consist of three phases, including two focus group processes and a visioning process. Following the completion of data collection through focus groups and other data collection activities, the project was terminated due to a perceived emerging crisis for the organization. The interruption of the proposed visioning process provided insight into processes entrenched within the organization and the consequential impacts of such. Particular attention is focused on the inherent approach to systems thinking, the transformational processes being experienced by the organization and the organization's ability to promote a shared vision capable of soliciting commitment and support from the surrounding community.
