This is my fathers' journey as a Don R (Despatch Rider) during WW2, from his enlistment in the Australian Militia in 1940, to the jungles of Milne Bay PNG '42-43 and Bougainville 1944-45. Most of the pictures in this book are from his private collection.Even today, some 60yrs on, he still gets emotional when thinking about the mates whom he spent 5yrs with, three of which were in the jungles of PNG and Bougainville. Having such good mates, who could depend on each other in such dangerous conditions for the simplest things in life as Life itself, had a lasting effect on all of them.
