Her birth mother died when she was seven and was separated from her siblings that she loves. She was put in two foster homes, where one based their child rearing in superstitions, blaming her for every bad thing that happened. She was also put in two orphanages, where she was later adopted by an American couple. She writes of her growing experiences from a girl to a young lady while living in the countryside of Pennsylvania. Life was not easy for this young gilr learning the language, culture, and the people around her. Read it to believe it.
